Yes, you can apply from Singapore. A US state board approves you, an approved test center hosts your exam, and the US board issues your license. Singapore is currently not a US CPA testing location.

Can I apply while living in Singapore?
Yes, if you meet the chosen US board’s requirements. Living in Singapore does not automatically qualify or disqualify you. Check the whole route before paying application fees.
Evaluate your education
Your Singapore degree and courses need a board-approved evaluation. University credits do not automatically equal US semester hours.
Choose an eligible board
Check education, residency, identification and participation in international testing.
Check the license path
Confirm how your work experience can be verified, plus any additional education or ethics requirements.
Its exam application has no state-residency or US Social Security number requirement. NIES must evaluate foreign education. That makes it an option to assess, not automatic approval for a Singapore degree.

When can I apply and take the exam?
No Singapore annual intake
Apply when your board’s eligibility file is ready. Evaluation and processing come before the Notice to Schedule (NTS).
Book within your NTS validity
The NTS expiry, available exam windows and available seats all matter. Your passed-section credit deadline is a different clock.
2026 testing at a glance
Core: AUD, FAR and REG. Discipline: choose BAR, ISC or TCP. “Closed” applies to Discipline testing only. Actual appointments depend on the center.
A Core cutoff is when AICPA receives the exam file, not an application deadline. Score dates are targets. The schedule changes from July 2027. See the official calendar
Where should I take the test?
A Prometric center offering other exams does not mean it offers the US CPA. Singapore is absent from NASBA’s current CPA testing-country list.

How do US states and credits work?
There is no Singapore-issued US CPA license. Choose a US jurisdiction whose rules you can meet. Your test location does not choose your board, and “credits” can mean three different things.
Academic credits
Degree equivalency, semester hours and subject coverage. A board-approved evaluator assesses your Singapore records.
Passed-section credits
Your board records the sections you pass and sets their expiry. Washington currently allows a 36-month rolling period from score release.
License and practice rights
A state-issued credential. It does not automatically become CA (Singapore) status or permission to sign Singapore statutory audits.
Your exam remains a Washington application. If you later want a different state’s license, arrange a score transfer and satisfy the receiving board’s rules. Do not assume passed sections or an evaluation transfer automatically.
Score-transfer process · Washington credit rulesUS CPA vs CA (Singapore): what does each qualify me for?
| Question | US CPA | CA (Singapore) |
|---|---|---|
| Credential authority | Your US state board | ISCA membership and its qualification requirements |
| Professional focus | US accounting, tax and reporting knowledge | Singapore’s chartered accountancy qualification |
| Singapore statutory audits | No automatic local signing rights | Still requires separate ACRA public accountant registration |
What documents do I need?
Start with your chosen state and its approved evaluator. Official delivery matters: a personal upload may not replace documents sent by your university or evaluator.

How do I get my license after passing?
Passing four sections does not automatically make you a licensed CPA. Complete the remaining requirements and apply to the US board.
- 1Finish the exam and required education
Pass AUD, FAR, REG and one Discipline within your board’s credit window. Resolve any education gap for the license path you select.
- 2Document qualifying experience
Singapore-based work may qualify if the board accepts its tasks, duration and verification. Check the verifier’s credentials before relying on the experience.
- 3Complete ethics and the license application
Submit the board’s education, exam, experience and ethics evidence, declarations and fees. Requirements differ by state.
- 4Receive approval, then maintain the license
Confirm the license is issued before using the licensed title. Follow your board’s renewal and continuing education requirements.
A concrete example: Washington’s education and experience paths
| Education path | Minimum experience |
|---|---|
| Bachelor’s with accounting concentration or equivalent | 24 months + 4,000 hours |
| Post-bachelor’s degree with accounting concentration or equivalent | 12 months + 2,000 hours |
| Bachelor’s with accounting concentration + 30 semester hours | 12 months + 2,000 hours; this education option expires after 31 Dec 2035 |
All paths require the specified accounting and business subjects. Washington’s concentration is 24 semester hours in accounting and 24 in business, with excess accounting hours allowed toward business. Education rules · Experience rules
The verifier must meet Washington’s US CPA licensing-history rules, including at least five years of qualifying licensure. A CA (Singapore) credential alone is insufficient. The initial license also requires at least 90% on a course covering the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct. Verifier rules · License and ethics rules
What does Singapore’s job market show?
US CPA appears in local hiring, but the wording of the job matters. Here is a search snapshot, two employer examples and an official workforce trend.
Search matches are not US CPA requirements
Glassdoor displayed 245 results for this search. Results include broad CPA qualifications and unrelated matches. This is not a verified count of unique vacancies requiring a US CPA, and one snapshot does not establish growth.

| Employer & role | Qualification signal | What else matters |
|---|---|---|
| Grant Thornton Singapore Audit Manager | US CPA explicitly desirable | One of several professional qualifications; at least 6 years of statutory audit experience. India-related audit experience is also required. |
| KPMG Singapore US Audit, Senior Associate | US GAAP skills; US CPA not specified | Lists ACA, ACCA, CPA Australia or equivalent, with 2-4 years of experience. Requires working knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP and SOX-404. |

- Can I take the US CPA Exam physically in Singapore?
- Singapore is not on NASBA’s international CPA testing-country list. Apply from Singapore, then book a CPA appointment in an approved country, such as the Philippines, Japan or South Korea.
- Do I have to wait for an annual application date?
- There is no Singapore-specific annual intake. Apply when you meet your US board’s requirements. In 2026, Core testing runs throughout the year, while Discipline testing is in January, April, July and October. Appointments depend on availability and a valid Notice to Schedule.
- Can I use credits from any US state in Singapore?
- Academic credits are assessed against a chosen US board’s education rules. Passed exam sections are recorded for that jurisdiction; a transfer requires the receiving board’s acceptance. Singapore does not issue a US CPA license or automatically convert US exam credits into CA (Singapore) status.
- Does CA (Singapore) let me skip the four US CPA sections?
- ISCA is not on NASBA’s current mutual recognition agreement list. CA (Singapore) alone does not provide an IQEX shortcut. If you hold another professional membership, check whether that separate qualification meets a current agreement.
- Can work experience in Singapore count toward a US CPA license?
- It may, if the chosen board accepts the work and its verification. For example, Washington assesses the work, competencies, duration and a qualified US CPA verifier. A Singapore employer or CA (Singapore) supervisor alone does not establish that the verification requirement is met.
